ASTOUNDING 1940s' BROWN FELT WIDE BRIM FEDORA WITH ORANGE FELT EDGING.

This is a truly unique and stunning fashion statement from the 1940s'! This lovely hat is made of brown felt, and it consists of a low crown with a flat top, surrounded by a wide brim edged in orange felt and turned up at one side. Part of the crown is visible below the brim at the side and has a small bow made of the same brown + orange felt. The crown is trimmed by brown veiling that ties at the back and streams down. The wartime 40’s saw a huge variety of hats that were suitable for any face shape, hairstyle or personal preference. Throughout the war & on both sides of the Atlantic, elaborate creations brightened dreary utility fashions, brought about by rationing. The only items not rationed were hat materials. There is no designer or store label, but there is a Consumer Protection label with size 22. This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. Feathers, straw, flowers & veils are fragile, given their age.
