haleighashak
@stefster_anne wow these are so close!! How did you do it?
Jul 28Reply

stefster_anne
@haleighlovell yea, they turned out really well and I wasn’t trying as hard as I could have to match the color. Believe it or not these colors came from one dye bath!! This is my first time ever dying clothing. So what I did was I bought a bucket and some RIT all purpose fabric dye. I used Teal and I added Peacock Green (color for Synthetic fabrics).

stefster_anne
@haleighlovell the top color is actually chartreuse in that dye bath and the second to top is sky in that dye bath. I didn’t like those colors so figured I’d dye them and they turned out lovely! The bottom colors I got from dying Arq’s cotton color undies. The bottom lightest pair is the same dye bath but after I dyed a few other items so the pigment wasn’t as strong.

@haleighlovell it’s super easy, got the dyes off amazon and used warm water instead of hot. Let them soak for a bit and rinsed them out. You’ll get the host of the color after about 15 - 20 mins in the dye bath, just keep in mind they will lighten up after you wash them.

stefster_anne
@haleighlovell I ordered a few other colors of dye because I want to make colors I like. Totally worth a shot if you are like me and dying for something similar to the limited release!
Jul 28Reply

stefster_anne
@haleighlovell might try to get closer to the limited release color with my next batch. If it turns out, I’ll let you know and maybe I can do an extra one and sell it to you. :) I’ll keep you posted but you should try it yourself, super simple, not terribly expensive and fun!
Jul 28Reply

stefster_anne
@haleighlovell last thing, if you’re looking to make a specific color, you can go to RIT’s site they have a color formula page and it’ll tell you how much of each dye you need to achieve that color.
Jul 28Reply

haleighashak
@stefster_anne that’s pretty cool! Thanks for letting me know all of that! But if you decide to dye closer to the colors in that limited release, please let me know :) otherwise I might give it a try too!
Jul 28Reply

stefster_anne
@haleighlovell will do! :)
Jul 28Reply

cair_paravel
Oh these are gorgeous!!!!!! Makes me want to give it a try too! Thank you for sharing them! 💓✌️
Jul 29Reply

stefster_anne
@cair_paravel you totally should! It was so fun and I love how the colors came out! I may even re-dye a few of them to get a deeper color. :)
Jul 29Reply

kalyndi
I’m actually doing a dye project with very very similar colors soon!!
Jul 29Reply

stefster_anne
@kalyndi yay! It turned out really well! I’m going to re-dye a few items to get the color to be deeper. :) One call out when dyeing is that the stitching doesn’t come out the same color as the undies because I believe the thread is synthetic so just a heads up!

Such cool work!!!
Aug 01Reply

stefster_anne
@kisforkat thank you! 😍 going to do another batch in a few other colors. Love them so far and the colors are washing really well, so going to keep going! Haha I did hear Arq is coming out with new colors in the coming months, so wonder what they’ll be!
Aug 01Reply

sashanova
@stefster_anne have you tried 'Dharma trading' for dyes? they have a lot of really great colors.
Aug 05Reply

stefster_anne
@sashanova I have not! I’m a total newb so I used what was readily available. I’ll check them out, thanks for the suggestion!
Aug 05Reply

jodic123
Hi! These look great. Did you just use the cotton undies from ARQ as a base?
Aug 07Reply

stefster_anne
@detectivecookie thank you! So the top two photos are actually Chartreuse base (top pair) and Sky base (2nd on top). The others are cotton base. :)
Aug 07Reply

demiharvey
Ooh! Join our ARQ BST on FB I bet everyone would love to see these, search Arq and I’ll approve you
Aug 21Reply

stefster_anne
@demiharvey I don’t have FB. :( would be happy to share though if there is another way! Haha sorry!
Aug 21Reply

taylorrenfree
I would love to purchase if possible!
Aug 24Reply

stefster_anne
@smileytaay I may be open to selling some as I went on a bit of a craze with this project. What size and colors are you interested in? I have M and L. Let me know the types of colors you’re interested in and I can see what I have. Most haven’t been worn yet just dyed and washed. Also, just to be upfront I would charge more than a pair you can buy on Arq to make up for the fees on here and a little upmark from there because of the work and dye.
Aug 24Reply

stefster_anne
@smileytaay Likely would sell for about 45. Sorry, I know that sucks but I don’t want to lose out on any money as I’d keep them all. :)
Aug 24Reply

taylorrenfree
@stefster_anne @stefster_anne thank you for answering! I completely understand the price, your creative is amazing. I would love to purchase a size Medium pair. I loooooove your latest dye batch. That earthly blue in the middle is my favorite
Aug 24Reply

stefster_anne
@smileytaay ok! Let me see what I have!
Aug 24Reply

stefster_anne
@smileytaay so sadly, that color is actually one I want to keep. It’s the closest I’ve been able to get to the Arq collab. That said, I am willing to try to get that color again if you can give me a few days. I’ll post a pic of th ones I am willing to part with.
Aug 24Reply

stefster_anne
@smileytaay posted a pic. Let me know what you think! Happy to also hold off for now u til the next dye batch
Aug 24Reply

taylorrenfree
@stefster_anne okay I would absolutely love that! Let me know when it flows for you. Thank you so much!
Aug 24Reply

stefster_anne
@smileytaay yea,no worries! It’s tough because I’m not sure I’ll be able to get that color against the first time I got it I was mixing like a mad woman lol so don’t even know the color ratios I used. Haha keep your fingers crossed.

davebowie
hi! love all of these so much. so the bottom three were just plain white? super inspired by all of them and I'm thinking about getting some RIT to dye some white items but still perusing formulas - so hard to choose!
Sep 14Reply

stefster_anne
@davebowie hi! Yes! In the last pic the bottom 3 were all cotton base. :) honestly after doing so many of these dye projects, I’ve found mixing my own coord is easiest. Rule of thumb, if you’re looking for a deeper/darker color make sure you use more dye. For a lighter more pastel color use less dye but the same amount of water.
Sep 14Reply

stefster_anne
@davebowie if you decide to mix your own colors, after you mix the dyes use a paper towel folded and dip inside the dye. You’ll see the color better there. Remember it’ll start off darker and faster you wash and dry the color will be lighter than what you see when it’s wet. :)

davebowie
@stefster_anne this is so helpful! Thanks for posting and sharing! :)

@stefster_anne are you interested in selling these or maybe dying a few customs?
Oct 19Reply

stefster_anne
@samanthanweaver hi! Thanks for your interest! What size would you be looking for? I only have M and L undies, but would be happy to sell some. :)
Oct 19Reply

eclogan991
@stefster_anne also interested in purchasing some mediums. Do you only sell here?
Oct 24Reply

@stefster_anne hey! I just ran across this thread- I was curious if you continued with your dying project:) I have used Jacquard idye for cool water dying for natural fibers. It won’t dye the synthetic threads and it’s not “natural” which is ultimately what I would love to try but I like it for linen and cotton. I would love to see what you have done if you kept at it! Thanks!

I have been tie-dying underwear for years. Mostly organic cotton. I love how things look different and how each pair takes on the color differently. These are absolutely beautiful! I am new to this brand, and it is good to see that these will die nicely also. I am about to receive my first bra in this brand, and not sure of sizing yet. But hopefully this will give me a better idea if bees are closed in size to tomboy X, and thunderpants.
