You never know what you are going to find in the back of a closet. This is an antique rotary phone made by the Western Electric
Company. My father collected old phones. Under the handset, there are the letters FIW as well as general electric company USA. On the back of the phone, the inscription says patent number 150-8424 178-8747.
The phone was not adopted for the modern jack and has the old three wire as it was called. The phone was well used back then since the black paint wore off, but can easily be retouched. This phone weighs almost 4 pounds. I presume the bottom cover is leather and has come loose a little, but can easily be glued down carefully. What a delightful conversation piece, or a paperweight.

@talana1977 hi! Those colored wires used to connect to the little wires that were in the phone jack in a person’s house. With so many people having wi-fi, I wonder if they exist. So, this is probably for an old phone collector or anyone who wants a conversation piece. (I’m not ancient but my dad collected old phones). It is heavy. Thanks for your interest!❤️
