ANTIQUE Gold Filled / Plated Right Facing Portrait Cameo - Victorian

Right facing portrait cameo of the Victorian Era. Its exquisite level of detail, straight nose and round cheeks are truly beautiful. It is artfully carved of shell with a naturally curved back and set in a high bevelled gold edge with a striking thick rolled rope design. I believe this to be gold filled / plated but it is not visibly stamped. Its closure is typical of this era and has a plain “c-clasp” which remains tight. Circa 1890s and in good antique condition. There is some wear on the gold including tarnish and scratches from age as well as a natural patina. Please refer to photos for condition and measurements / weight. This is a beautiful design from long ago that will make a special keepsake today. Please note that I believe my description to be accurate based on my family’s information but this cameo has not been professionally authenticated. Heirloom has had one owner then put away by descendants.
