This antique glass inkwell is known as a “common sense” inkwell, as it’s an all in one piece, & the weight is balanced so well to make it super sturdy so it would not tip over, which just made common sense! Measuring 2-1/2”x2-3/4”, she’s witness quite a bit in her day. Consistent with age & use, she has some exterior chipping which is very smooth, which leads me to believe that they are quite old! There’s also some interior chips that are not felt on the outside (which is always so cool how that happens!) Also, I’m not sure if there’s an interior crack as well, or if that is the seam, but nothing is felt from the exterior. She’s priced accordingly, & very low to sell quickly, as I’m downsizing an extensive collection of inkwells & fountain pens, all currently being listed in my closet! Now for the really fun part - uranium was used in the molten mix, so when exposed to UV light, it glows neon green something mighty! It would make such a fun addition to your industrial, art nouveau, or art deco office collection, in addition to your uranium glass cabinet!
