During America's early years, it was the custom to present a Freedom Box, crafted in precious metal and elaborately decorated, to distinguished visitors in official welcoming ceremonies. This Freedom Box was commissioned by the Freedoms Foundation at Valley Forge for presentations during America's Bicentennial, and is crafted of sterling silver and sculptured in high relief. The removable cover depicts the American Eagle. The four sides bear sculpture representations of our four freedoms; Speech, Religion, Assembly and the Press.
