AMAZING 1940s' CLARET RED FELT TILT HAT WITH TALL RUST FEATHERS & MATCHING VEIL

What an amazing piece of history! This hat was custom created to be a show stopper. The small flat crown is complemented by a taller piece of felt at the front, edged and decorated with grosgrain and topstitched. Remarkable matching veil in excellent condition can be placed along the crown, away from the face. The beautiful spray of rust colored rooster feathers is something to be seen.To keep it in a tilted position, this tilt hat has two grosgrain straps at the back, held together by a small elastic ring. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, or a combination of these. This hat has been lovingly preserved along with over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years. This hat is very special and rare. Mannequin not for sale.
