How much would it cost to fix that tear?
fit_finder
@cogitoergovendo Not much if you know someone who knows how to sew and can research the proper repair. I would do it myself if I had the time. If you take it to a professional seamstress or tailor they can give you a quote. Still worth it for a $600 jacket, I am open to offers 🙂

@fit_finder I do these repairs. For a living. I just told another user, if I was working at cost I would charge at least $400 for a year of this nature and to not be visible it would hand to be patched in addition to reinforced. So that’s $650 for a repaired jacket you can buy new for $595.

@fit_finder tear*

@cogitoergovendo Wow! You must be worth that price for it to not be visible at all. Seems like you wanted me to walk into that loaded question when you knew what *your* answer would be, but that’s okay because the US is a big place full of talented people. It really depends on where the buyer takes it and/or what creative way they want to repair it. It’s still an item worth saving from getting tossed and the right buyer will come who wants to invest in it in whatever way they want.

@cogitoergovendo As I mentioned, I am open to offers (being that you would be the perfect person to flip this yourself (Since you do repairs. For a living.) 🙂

@fit_finder Nope. I checked with two colleagues and their responses were “I wouldn’t do that job at all—throw it out” and “$500 minimum”. This is a consensus.
fit_finder
@cogitoergovendo That’s a very small sample size for a consensus of all seamstresses and tailors in the US 😂 If your business model includes encouraging people to contribute to the landfill instead of doing a repair then good luck with that 🤦🏽♀️
