I have fought Endometriosis and Adenomyosis much of my adult life. In 2016, I was diagnosed with Stage 4 DIE (Deep Infiltrating Endometriosis) by an amazing OB/Gyn. She was fearless and experienced; she listened and advocated for me. Many Endometriosis patients do not get heard. Although Endo is a rampant disease that affects 1-10 women (and sometimes men), it usually takes 8-10 years to get diagnosed. The gold standard to fighting this disease is to cut it out--by wide excision laparoscopic surgery. Thanks to this doctor, I had surgery and, after changing my eating habits and lifestyle, went into regression. We were able to get pregnant and had our wonderful daughter! This last year, I found out the terrible news: Endometriosis had returned and fused my organs together. We were infertile, and the quality of my life completely tanked. I'm in pain every day. But I don't give up. I found a nationally renowned Endometriosis Specialist and am scheduled for wide excision surgery! Afterwards, we are on track for IVF. It's been a long, painful road, but my family's life is blooming with hope. --Of course, all this--though medically necessary--is expensive.
