Alfred Fenton & Company (1887-1901) England brown transferware coupe soup bowl. The company was established as A.F. & Sons and the name was changed to & Co. in 1893, when one of the three sons left the business. The family also had interests in Australia and New Zealand as merchants. Alfred and two of his sons lived in Australia and ran that end of the business while son James ran the business in England. Not very well as it turns out. He concealed losses from the family, and in 1899, the company went into receivership. This 8.75" piece is in excellent condition for its age. No chips or cracks.
