ADORABLE 1940s' BLACK TILT HAT + RED FEATHERS & VEIL

This black felt 1940s' tilt hat consists of a half cap with red feathers enhancing the back side. There is a grosgrain band attached to the inside which covers the feather quills. Quite striking! There is an O ring attached to the hat to help keep it in place. A black veil is also attached, which can be worn over the face or placed on top off the hat. At both sides of the hat there are pieces of felt shaped into "calla Lillies" with a large gold colored sequin. Tilt hats were popular in the 1930s and 1940s. They were worn at an angle and held to the back of the head by a strap, rigid ring, elastic band beneath the hair, an extended cap, or a combination of these. 30s Fashion certainly seemed fussier than the 1920s with its relentless ornaments of bows, trims and frills. There is no designer label, indicating it was a custom-made creation. Please keep in mind that you are buying a vintage hat, not new nor perfect! This is an authentic piece of fashion history! This hat is in wonderful vintage condition & has been lovingly preserved among over 1300 vintage hats we have collected for 40+ years.
