One-of-a-kind! The original law, signed into effect in 1988 by then-governor Mario Cuomo in New York, that authorized to use photographic evidence to issue a citation for..running a red light; also known as the RED-LIGHT-CAMERA LEGISLATION. Today, more than 35 years later this is a part of every day traffic enforcement in the whole country; it all started on that day. I wrote the law, lobbied, got the sponsors in Senator Goodman and Assemblyman Lafayette, help from Governor Cuomo's wife Mathilda, and the rest is history. In the picture you see then-Commissioner Lucius Riccio signing the first contract to implement these cameras in New York City. I am the one behind the commissioner with the white shirt and potbelly. They said this will never become reality in the USA; I proved them wrong. Only two (2) originals exist, the Senate and the Assembly version.
