The different looks of Lena! Lena Mary Calhoun Horne (June 30, 1917 – May 9, 2010) was an American jazz and pop music singer, dancer, actress, and civil rights activist. Ms Horne knew how to wear clothes; they did not wear her! I wanted to take the opportunity to celebrate a woman who did so much despite obstacles & did it with class. Her style was undeniable! Information & photos sourced via the internet.

@simone_mcbrid Good morning! She was an extraordinary woman. She had to prove her worth where others were handed it. Always a class act and truly a fashion icon! Please let her daughter know she was appreciated but Im sure she knew that! Im glad you stopped by!!

@spottythedot Your closet is lovely!! I do the same thing though when I go through closets. They look like magazines. Its changed a lot with the retail business. Makes it difficult for second hand or vintage sellers no matter how nice your closet looks. So much competition but there is room for everyone! Its nice to see you again!!

I've always thought she was incredibly beautiful. Stormy weather the movie and her singing the title track in the movie. And in the Wiz, Glenda the good witch. So beautiful. Even her cameo in Sanford & Son. Take care. Tanya

@beth6856 She was indeed! Its nice to remember the women who managed to "make it big" despite discrimination & sexism. I marvel at how they all managed to move ahead in times when there were not a lot of advocacy for changing the status quo. They truly were remarkable women!
