It was in 1847 that a man named Hans Greiner began producing garlands of glass beads and a variety of glass figurines that were hung onto holiday trees. The popularity of these decorations grew into the production of various glass figures made by highly skilled artisans.
These unique glass Christmas ornaments have been lovingly handcrafted by the talented artisans in places like Neustadt near Coburg in Northern Bavaria using centuries-old glassblowing techniques. Ornaments such as these are mouth-blown with clear crystal glass, coated inside with a layer of fine sterling silver, and hand painted.
