8 Fornasetti “Dinner at Eight” Coasters - “Pranzo alle Otto” Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988). Set of eight mid-century modern Fornasetti Italian coasters decorated with obscenely rich food. Marked "Fornasetti Milano Made in Italy" with the company's paintbrush-in-hand symbol and each coaster also marked "Dinner at Eight.” Coaster are 4” diameter. The gold has a few marks, the box shows wear. Consider good vintage condition. Piero Fornasetti (1913-1988) was an Italian painter, sculptor, decorator, and craftsman. Fornasetti lived most of his life in Milan. Fornasetti cultivated a highly original style throughout his career. He was a master craftsman who used ornamental and pictorial motifs to decorate silk scarves, furniture, plates, vessels, and similar objects. His work was clever, surreal and whimsical. His furnishings occupy a unique niche in the decorative arts: they are surreal and impactful and act as functional sculpture. LROB
