Garnet Ring - sig wear on Sover band Sz8 stone may be real or not?

Cut Garnet (?) Ring - sig wear on silver plated band Sz8 stone may be real or not? This was a gift as it was well worn. Zero damage to the red stone which may indicate it’s a diamond (lol) or it could be manufactured garnet like The silver is real as I am allergic to other metals. The scratches never revealed any metals underneath.
