Vintage Silk Japanese Kimono. Another Kimono from my personal collection. Most were inherited, but I purchased this one in the 90’s in Japan for myself (it was already vintage when purchased) and it has been well cared for and properly stored. I never wore it; I briefly used it as a wall hanging in one of the treatment rooms of my spa that owned for many years. The silk crepe is soft and of a lighter weight than you’d expect from a piece like this made of so much fabric, with the addition of a full lining (also in silk). I adore both the color palette and floral & leaf design. Lined in both wine and white silk. Simple but so elegant. 58” long (don’t be put off by the length — Japanese women are typical not of a tall stature; the kimono is wrapped close to the body and fabric and traditionally secured around the waist with an wide and cumbersome Obi; for modern wear you can use a sash) and 22.5” wide from underarm to underarm, measured from the back. Excellent Condition, only has a few tiny age spots in the lining (see photos). No holes, odor or other issues. I’m quite sure this was never worn by its original owner as there are still basting stitches intact in the sleeves (see last photo) and neckline. A really lovely kimono!
