@lorrie752 Thank you for your interest in this jacket. It is likely bigger than the average 4 year old but the measurements would be the best guide. It is about 16” across the chest and 21” from shoulder to hem so you could see how that compares to your 4 year olds current clothing size.

For further reference, an XS size is typical for an average boy 4-5 years old according to what I found for clothing guidelines. This jacket is a small.
