this rather rare hand crafted antique wool jacket is from a fascinating collection of historic textiles, clothing, & accessories that belonged to a member of a prominent political family in NY. it features silk, wool and metallic gold hand-embroidered florals that embellish much of the wide sleeves, sleek unlined drapey wool silhouette, and it is almost completely handmade. only the top shoulder seam and dart are done with fine machine stitching. the lacy, openwork seams and the fact the piece is unlined make the jacket easy and very practical to wear. it can be thrown over a bulky sweater or suit in transitional weather. it’s in good vintage condition; if you look closely, there are a few small areas of thinning in the wool in the back of the jacket. perhaps more noticeably, there are a few holes where it seems a moth or two got comfortable at some point in the jacket's long life, haha. the top right shoulder is where the coat has been most affected. could possible be repaired but i have zero know-how. all flaws have been photographed so please examine closely. the size is flexible. approximately 15 ½” across the shoulders, 23” from underarm to underarm across the back, and the length from the top of the neckline to the hem is 30” & the sleeves are 24" note: i live with cats and even though i store all items in bins away from them, i'd recommend using discretion if you have severe allergies. feel free to ask any questions or request more photos! xx
