Vintage 1950s Hattie Carnegie Black Fascinator Hat & Rich's Hat Box - Retro Couture Fashion
This is a fabulous vintage 1950s Hattie Carnegie black taffeta covered fascinator hat with a netted veil and comes with its Rich's Department Store hat box. This hat is a piece of millinery art and has little plastic tortoiseshell combs attached to hold it into place. This was purchased at Rich's of Atlanta. In excellent condition, no damage, just beautiful.
A little FYI: Hattie Carnegie began her career in fashion and design in New York by opening Carnegie–Ladies Hatter in 1909 with business partner Rose Roth. She chose the last name “Carnegie” to emulate America’s richest man, steel magnate Andrew Carnegie. Hattie began taking annual trips to Paris in 1919, and Hattie Carnegie, Inc., prospered by reinterpreting Parisian dress for the American consumer. Each annual fashion line from Hattie Carnegie could contain anywhere from five hundred to one thousand hats, designed to complement her original designs.

Hello. I have a large head so I have never been able to find a vintage hat that fits my head. But this hats looks very interesting. Do you think anyone could wear this hat?
saintsantiques
@wallisjulanar yes, it sits on the top of the head, not fitted, and has little combs that hold it in your hair, the fascinator hats were designed more and an "accent" for your hair than a fitted hat.

I can't figure out whether or not I like hat. But I'm going to take a chance on it. I will put in an offer. But please before accepting any offer let me know whether or not the hat has an old vintage smell. If so, I would prefer not to purchase it.

it has no funky smells, shipping out tomorrow, thank you !
