VINTAGE WWll ERA NAUTICAL CANISTER RED HAND FLARE DISTRESS SIGNAL COPPER

This vintage 1940’s WWll era nautical distress signal red hand flare canister is heavy copper & brass. Measuring 12”x6-1/4”, the front is embossed & reads “Red Hand Flare Distress Signal”. This vessel was carried on lifeboats & such in case of need to call for help, & would hold just what it says, red smoke hand flares. This amazing piece of historical nautical equipment was designed to be water tight, so the brass top is threaded & screws onto the base very securely. Highly sought out & extremely collectible, it’s in EVC. The copper has a really awesome patina that collectors admire, but it can be polished up in a jiffy with a lemon, salt, & some sweat equity!
