This is a rare style suede winter coat, made in NYC, NY (probably in the 70s because it's got that classic boho feel, with a unique twist). Perfect for the holiday season, whether you're a professional Santa or Mrs. Claus, or just enjoying the festive spirit.
This is a vintage piece, so please see photos for condition. The interior fur has been compressed from being stored in my closet for years, but the dark red/burgundy/maroon suede and white fluffy exterior fur lining are in very good condition for their age. There are hook closures, a hood, 2 exterior pockets, and the sleeves have a quilted pattern lining in them. The stitching looks to be in good condition and the coat feels sturdy and flexible (the leather is thick but in good condition), so it's clearly ready for decades of happy winters to come.
I'm listing this close to its value in the vintage shops, but lower offers are welcome, it doesn't hurt to ask!

Hi! Could you measure the upper arm circumference? Also, could you share if it's a men's or women's medium? Or if it's oversized at all? Thanks so much!

@kymkaye8 Hi, absolutely! I think it's unisex, and vintage sizing is a bit different from contemporary sizing, so the measurements will be the best thing to go by! I'll measure carefully as soon as I get home later today and update you with details. :)

@pegasuspapers Great! I’ve measured our “Santa” and all looks good but he mentioned that mediums for him are sometimes tight in the arms. We’re replacing pieces of a well loved Santa suit that my grandfather played Santa in for many years - grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as lots of local kiddos. I’m excited to find this and grateful for you kind help:)

@kymkaye8 Aw, that is so sweet! I love that tradition! What parts of the arms are sometimes tight on him? I'll take multiple measurements.

@pegasuspapers thanks - upper arms can be tight:)

@kymkaye8 Strong Santa!
Okay, I checked some different sections so you can make sure. Here are the measurements:
At the bottom arm seam (where the sleeve meets the body of the coat) at the widest part of the upper arm, it's between 14.75 - 15" around the inside.
At the elbow it's about 14" around.
At the bottom arm cuff it's about 11" around inside.
If I can help with any other measurements fell free to ask!

Haha, I had a little giggle myself when he said that's where it's often tight:) Thanks for the extra measurements. I will check when he's back at home and get back to you!

@kymkaye8 Haha. And the autoincorrect elves changed 'feel' to 'fell' in my last reply to you so now visually correcting that back to 'feel' after reading your comment gave me an extra giggle and a half. 😂

@pegasuspapers Funny:) I’m disappointed to let you know that the upper measurement seems like it will be too tight of a fit. I’ll chat with a tailor friend, but if someone else is interested…. Thanks for the light hearted interaction!

@kymkaye8 Aw, sorry to hear that, it would have been so neat for this special piece to become part of your family tradition! It should be simple to add in a gusset under each arm, which is just a diamond shape of suede that adds in the extra space he needs to reach maximum coziness. I know that both leather workers and tailors consider this a simple fix.

@kymkaye8 P.S. ... if there's a way to do it easily. A friend of mine used to get it done for $20-30 in Brooklyn, depending on the fabric. I'm sure the right Santa will come along, but if you want to go this route, feel free to make me an offer that makes it feasible for you. ❤️ Thanks for spreading your charm out this way and have a wonderful holiday season!

If you would, is this closer to a 38/40 fit in coats? I’m a 42, the medium description and looks like 20” shoulder measured?

pegasuspapers
@funpoppintags Hi there! Hm, I'm not sure about standardized sizing but I'm happy to take any measurements you like! The photo with the 20" measurement is from armpit to armpit. I'll run downstairs and measure the shoulders for you. One moment!

@funpoppintags Hi! I just uploaded an image that shows the measurements. At the widest part across the top, it's 22.5". The distance between the top seams where the shoulder attaches to the arm, it's 18" on the nose.

@funpoppintags I just paused the sale for a long time because I was traveling (away from my closet). I'm back now, and you're still early for the upcoming season!

@txmav411 I almost forgot... this vintage coat is our size too! Not sure if it's too wild for you, but it does fit perfectly!

@pegasuspapers This might be a little too wild for my tastes. I bet it was very flattering on your curves when you wore this!

pegasuspapers
@txmav411 Thanks for saying so! I'll take this one off your bundle!

@funpoppintags sorry for all the vacation modes... I've been traveling a lot for family stuff. You could always get it in advance for next year!
