“Luna Park,” a gorgeous scarf designed by Joachim Metz for Hermès' 1993 ' "Year of the Horse" themed collection. The design depicts a carousel and the title refers to the original "Luna Park" fairground that operated from 1909 to 1946 in Brooklyn, New York near Coney Island. This scarf is made of coveted Hermès woven jacquard silk. This Hermès features a woven fireworks design that shimmers across the carre̒. Hermès ceased regular weaving of its coveted jacquard silk carres in 1995, having found them too expensive to produce. Because of this, Hermès jacquard silk issues like “Luna Park” have become rare and highly valuable to collectors.
The colorway is vibrant shades of gold with a navy border, red, green and blues to accent on a white background.
This scarf is in excellent vintage condition. It may have a shadow or two, but nothing noticeable. It has been only infrequently used and very well maintained. The hems are intact, tight and round, and the colors are vibrant. Fabric/care tag is attached. The scarf measures about 35.5” (90cm) square.
A box may be available if requested. Please message me before purchase if you would like a box to verify availability as I have more scarves than boxes.
