I am delighted to offer a very charming bronze elephant from the Meiji period (1868-1912). This is a very attractive figure finished in a deep rich patination, Shibu ichi with copper to the ears and under the turned up trunk, symbolizing good luck. Excellent artist signature to the foot, measures 6.5" long, 3.5" tall.
Shibu ichi is a green color achieved by adding silver to the alloy at the final stage, immersed in the patination fluid until the desired color tone is reached).
