alibfcat Thanks @megger Wow 22! Awesome. Boy has a little arthritis and chronic kidney failure for the past 3-4 years but he's doing remarkably well on medication. 🐾😻

megger That's so awesome! I have a boy (Charlie) with diabetes, so I have to give him insulin shots twice a day.

alibfcat Aww Charlie! How does he do with the shots? My husband's company offers pet health insurance and I'm curious to see how that works. Boy may be exempt but I have other cats, dogs and birds 🐾🐾🐾🐾🐾🐥

megger Really well actually. They have come out with new pet insulin, they used to use human insulin on cats and dogs, which keeps them from crashing. You get it regulated much faster. I wish I had pet insurance, vet bills are expensive!

alibfcat @megger do you have to check Charlie's glucose at home? Humans do home finger sticks, so would you do a paw stick? Yea vet is crazy expensive. One of my parrots had to stay 1 night at the vet and it was $1000. We think the pet insurance will take care of a percentage of office visit or hospital maybe 20% or so. Husbands company seems really cool so far-just starting there this week. It's a German company called Miele.

megger No, but they have at home tests for felines. My vet didn't think it was necessary, however, I have to take him in for an all day glucose test every six months or so. Not cheap, but worth it. The new insulin is SO much better than what they had in the past. Your hubby's company sounds excellent, good luck to him, very exciting! I'm crashing now, have a good night and weekend. 😘

shoediva810 @alibfcat love ur animals. It's amazing with meds today. I had a cat we did insulin for 7yrs and my baby I had from when I was young lived to 24. She had kidney failure and did all subcoutanious fluids for over a yr. my new fur baby is posted in my closet.
