Nylon olive drab thread. Each spool is approximately 1/2 lb of thread (approximately 900 yards). The exact details of the thread can be seen in the pictures. The 3rd pictures shows a comparison of regular 3 ply sewing machine thread to the military thread which is much thicker. I do not know what ply the military thread is.
