The vintage 1970s Capas Design Gray 100% Wool Homburg Hat is clean cut but with an attitude! This spectacular Homburg style hat is The Godfather model, made of 100% wool is patterned after the hat Michael Corleone wore in the classic movie, "The Godfather". A semi-formal felt hat, the Homburg has a single dent center crown, wide silk grosgrain hatband ribbon, pencil curl flat brim and ribbon-bound trim on brim edge. Traditionally black or gray, it's a dressier hat than a fedora. While a designer is unknown, it got it's name when Edward VII, the future king of England came back from Germany in the 1890s, wearing one. Edward VII visited Bad Homburg vor der Höhe, a district in Hesse, Germany and so the name! Like the Bowler, the Homburg is a less formal look than the top hat, making it a great choice for a variety of occasions! It continued to gain popularity in the 20th century on both sides of the Atlantic. In England, Churchill popularized it, and Eisenhower made it popular in the USA during his presidency.
