How long is the chain and is it sterling silver?

I took the chain off (it comes off easily), and it measures just a bit over 30".
I'm not sure what metal it is. No 925 stamp. The artist said silver, but *maybe* silver plate. It's heavier than aluminum, so perhaps a silver plate over brass or something about that weight. There are no wear spots that show an underlying metal color, so whatever it's made of, it's done a great job holding up and staying shiny!

Nope, no stamp. 😔 I've had lots of silver pieces, which is why this drew my eye. It looks a lot like hand-hammered silver, but I just don't believe it's solid. It was at an artisan market, and there were other silver sellers (with 925 stamps), but I don't want you to think it might be real at a bargain, as the likelihood is wicked low for that, I think. It's super pretty, though, and reflects light nicely.
