19th Century Antique Hand Painted Manises Majolica Bird Plate - Spain Elegant glazed and hand-painted ceramic charger plate, made in Manises (Valencia). It features beautiful and vivid botanicals in blue and yellow and the characteristic birds painted in cream & yellow. The ceramics of Manises, in the Valencian Community (Spain), has been an important center of pottery since the 14th century producing fine earthenware, majolica, porcelain, & stoneware. This is a large charger plate, also can be used as a shallow serving bowl, with a wire hanger on the back. Dates to the late 19th century, measures approx. 11.75" across and 2.25" high. No damage, signed on back with artists initials.
