1998 S/S Martin Margiela “Flats” Sweater

Incredible piece of Margiela history!! This top is from Martin Margiela’s 1998 S/S “Flats” Collection that reimagined three dimensional garments as two dimensional objects that could lay completely flat but still be worn and take three dimensional form. He achieved this by utilizing different manipulations such as shifting the shoulders of neck to the front panel of the garment rather than the side. The fashion student in me swoons over this collection. Truly a special piece from when Margiela was still designing for the label.
