This is a vintage mug from "The Royal Collection" issued to commemorate the August 7, 1993 opening of Buckingham Palace to the public for tours. The mug is in unused vintage pre owned condition. These pieces are available exclusively from the royal palaces and are not available from any china retailers. Each piece is exclusive and available for only one year. They are made of fine bone china of superb quality and with such an impressive provenance they build into a unique and stunning collection.
The all gilt design is based on details from the damask in the White Drawing Room and the Green Drawing Room at Buckingham Palace. These are part of a magnificent suite of apartments design by the architect John Nash for King George IV in the 1820's. Made entirely by hand by skilled artisans in Stoke-on-Trent using traditional methods unchanged for over 250 years, using English fine bone china, highly regarded around the world for its whiteness,
