1971/72 gladiator sandals by Beth Levine for her namesake boutique inside Saks Fifth Avenue, Beth’s Bootery. Original ad dates to 71, but there were references to this sandal into 72. I’ve written a lot about about Beth Levine over the years but I think it’s fair to say almost every shoe design to this day is still taking inspiration from her shapes and sculpturism. These are stunningly beautiful, and take the gladiator to evening wear. Still have the original Saks price tag on the bottom for $60 ($460 in todays dollars)! Black suede with buckles for each strap.
