The Hattie Carnegie Asian Jewelry series was made in the 60s and 70s and is extremely collectible. This pendant necklace is unsigned and has significant plating loss of the back of the pendant and at the top ring where it attaches to the chain. For that reason it is being sold AS IS for a spectacular price.
The green carved 3x3 resin plaque is truly a work of art and Kenneth Jay Lane’s most celebrated contribution to the costume jewelry world. There is a gold tone Buddha sitting at top the carved green scene flanked by two gold tone pagodas. This setting is more discrete and tasteful, in my opinion, than the giant reclining one featured in other pieces. He has a lovely patina. At the base of the resin plaque hang three 2.5 inch long gold tone tassels composed of 12 chains each.
The chain is original to the piece light weight, 24 inches in total and features 6 green and marbled white faceted resin beads. Brassy fold over working clasp keeps it t all together.
