1970s Pen Shell Heishi Choker Necklace, Southwestern Jewelry Santo Domingo Native America Indian Style.
This choker necklace hails from the late 1960s to 1970s and represents a time when hand-shaped shells were made into discs and strung in simple style. The piece is made of disc heishi of dark pen or olive shell interspersed by off white clam shell heishi. The heishi discs are all hand cut--older stones that are increasingly hard to find. This Santo Domingo piece would be great gift for someone special. Unisex. Please use measured length as a size guide.
The choker measures approximately 17" long tip to tip. The heishi discs are graduated. Start smaller and graduate larger then back to smaller.
Beautiful older piece, a vanishing treasure.
