1960s Style Black Vegan Leather Purse Hand Bag Gold Chain Madewell Vintage 1960s or 1970s black faux leather purse? Or modern reproduction by Madewell? I went back and forth about whether it is vinyl or leather - it is really quite soft and appears to be leather when looking closely at edges but it also has a sort of faux leather feel. Double chain strap - can be made single and longer but then the chain goes straight across the top of bag. The chain can be tucked inside for clutch. Bag is simple pouch style - lined with no inner pockets, hinged frame at top. An "M" that looks suspiciously like the Madewell logo is stamped on the metal charm on, each side of bag. It's this element that leaves me confused. If I had to guess I'd say that this is a vintage item and the "M" is just a coincidence. Condition: Very good vintage condition. 8/10 Gold metal hardware shows a bit of patena and gold transfer to the bag. Lined interior in excellent condition.
