1960s Era Vintage Jacket with Mink Cuffs

1960s era lightweight, black waist length jacket with tannish colored mink cuffs at wrists. The mink cuffs are in excellent condition. The jacket has a single eye and hook closure. The black lining has a beautiful, black sewn detail. Fits like a women’s small. It’s approx. 19” across from pit to pit and 20” long from shoulder to waist hem. Made by Gus Genetti at a local mink shop in Hazleton, PA. Gus Genetti Sr. (Augusto Lodovico Henry Genetti: 1892-1976) of Hazleton, Pennsylvania had a fur ranch for 35 years in Sugarloaf, PA. Known more for his hotel and restaurant establishment, Gus also opened a fur shop at his Hazleton business, Gus Genetti’s Hotel and Restaurant of Distinction, in 1956. In 1949, he was elected president of the Eastern Fur Farmers Cooperative, Inc., and was made a director of the national board of Fur Farmers Organizations. The Eastern Cooperative at that time had a membership of more than 600 fur farmers. Genetti was recognized by the mink industry as one of the originators of new colors in mink by mutation breeding. Some of the new colors were originated on his ranch in Sugarloaf Township and won many championships at leading national mink shows.
