This breaks my heart to sell this - but it is too small for me.
It has been in climate-controlled storage for probably 40 years.
My grandmother did not own many 'luxury items' - but when she did make a purchase - she made sure it was the best quality!
In 1938 it cost $41 (which is approx. $1143 today).
I will be honest - I own several furs - and I am unable to confirm what type of fur(s) this is:
My mother said that this is fox - but I would say it was a combination of fox and another.
It is both soft and brisk...
What makes it so stunning is the mixture of the hues of brown and black.
She probably only wore it (less than five times) - I have never worn it...It is in pristine condition!
It is very 'strong' - no signs of any loose fur etc.
The attention to detail is amazing. There are no 'flaws' despite the age.
- even the cuffs of the jacket are exceptionally crafted.
It is held open by two 'hook and loop closures - which are secure - and then the front joins at the panels.
The underside of the sleeves is lined with satin (to prevent wear in that area).
It is fully lined inside - and has two 9" side slant pockets, which appear hidden.
Shoulders are padded. (not overly)
