1809 Tales of Fashionable Life by Miss Edgeworth. In Two Volumes, Vol II Only

First American Edition (Stated). Antique Book Published by Joseph Milligan “Tales of Fashionable Life” first published in 1809, is a collection of stories that delve into the manners, morals, and social dynamics of the English upper class during the early 19th century. The tales are known for their insightful commentary on the behaviors and attitudes prevalent among the gentry and the aristocracy of the time. Volume II Includes: * Madame de Fleury: focuses on the virtues of charity and the importance of education. * The Dun: addresses the issues of debt and financial responsibility. * Manoeuvring: satirizes the manipulative tactics used by some individuals to secure advantageous marriages or social positions. This 215-year-old book is missing the front and back covers and in otherwise overall fair condition for its age: • Cover: front and back covers are missing • Spine: fairly heavy wear, see pictures • Pages: age marks/brown spots/foxing throughout, underling in pencil, folded corners and small tears. Writing in ink bleeds through on title page (see picture). Many pages are dark (darker than shown in pictures).
