This outstanding necklace with 21 graduating beads was made sometime in the mid to late 1800's. Amber of this age an has been sold for centuries in Africa. This necklace is from a West African area called Mauritania. These beads are most likely an amber imitation known as phenolic resin. Such beads have been produce for the African trade since early 20th century in Germany. These beads are in perfect condition with a nice patina, and aged marbling. This necklace is strung onto industrial waxed antique cotton threading with authentic marbled White Onyx, and authentic oxidized antique silver bicone spacers.
This is a true article. This necklace was originally purchased in Morocco from an art gallery/antique shop that only carries genuine one-of-a-kind antique pieces.
