bcoppo Joan did says once in an interview that she frequently had a jeweler make a copy of her favorite "Classic" faux jewelry pieces in the "real thing" to for her own private jewelry collection. But her collections on TV were all faux. Since I have many pieces of her Classic Collection earrings, I can attest that the quality is so incredible, they actually look real. best of all the faux gold has stayed beautiful over the years.
