BATTERSEA Shield Pin Brooch .925 Sterling Silver Celtic La Tène style - Ceremonial Warrior's Shield. Handcrafted in solid .925 Sterling Silver, set w/ natural Amethyst. Approximately 3/4 inch width x 1 inch height. Unisex design. Originally used for ceremonial purposes, the shield was created in approximately the third century B.C.E. and was found in the Thames River in 1857. The design interweaves animal or bird faces with womb-like features around a central circle.
