dogslovepeace My dad grew up on Guam. His father was in charge of the navy base way back when. My old neighbor is also from Guam. He goes back yearly to visit his mom.

jillybeanfash @dogslovepeace that is so rare that i hear those things. ☺ usually people are like where is Guam? lol.. sort of like a hidden island to the rest of the world. 😋 I think it's so cool when I hear that their parents were stationed here or they have friends that are Guamanian. it's like, yay! finally we are slowly but surely getting on "the map" 😉 heehee..

dogslovepeace Oh my family talk highly of their time spent there. Let me see...my dad was born in 47 so I'm guessing it was in the very late 50's to early 60's that they lived there. My papa was the Commander of the base at the time and they lived in a cute house on base I think. I remember my dad talking about a huge typhoon that came through while they were there. Our friend David also has family in a very remote area of Fiji. I'm always jealous of his adventures and beautiful surroundings! I grew up a navy brat but in Maine. Really. My dad get Guam and I get Maine. 😉

jillybeanfash @dogslovepeace that is so awesome to hear! 😊 wow that was so long ago. Guam has changed a lot since then. Alot more Americanized now and more people. It's a hot and humid place to live but I am such an island girl that it's nothing to me 😉 most people don't know we are U.S. Territory and proud to be Americans. In some places they still consider us international 😁.. I wish I was a military brat because I LOVE to travel. Blessed you are! 💞 oh and my uncle married my aunty who is from Maine. my dad has 8 brothers & 2 sisters and half of them are married to Americans from either Texas, Maine, Washington, all over! 👍 🌎🌏
