true Antique - Wedgwood sage green "celadon" dipped lidded box with white relief. Bottom is marked Wedgwood and a separate stamp marking only England. The piece is dated approximately 1890-1910 as it is lacking the "made in" that dates it pre 1910 Condition: please know this is not a mint condition piece. It is over 100 years old and does have minimal signs of age. Overall I would consider this in excellent shape for its age. There are a few very minor chips on the inside lip of the lid. None of the relief is chipped or missing. Neoclassical scene called "The Offering to Peace". This design, also known as a sacrificial scene, was a popular motif for Josiah Wedgwood's classical-style jasperware in the late 18th century. The scene features several figures, typically representing classical mythology. Central Figures: The main group usually depicts goddesses or muses. In this specific design, figures are seen seated and standing, often interpreted as making an offering at an altar, though the altar is not fully visible here.
