@raquel91407 Ha! Yes, I'm shocked at how many listings I see for antique items (and then they're listed as NWT).

I agree I can’t stand it when they describe an item as antique when it’s not. It makes my search longer when it’s not “Vintage” or “Antique”. Thanks for posting the difference and I shared it too. 🤗

@daisyflores Haha...the best are pieces listed as Vintage - New With Tags! It's funny, I started selling online, a few years back, with just some Vintage pieces from Grandma. I then moved on to making jewelry myself. I still love Vintage! In my opinion, the jewelry was just made better back then...sort of like the music! I'm cleaning some AMAZING vintage pieces right now...hope to list them tonight (I guess this morning).

I basically agree. Used to be Antique was 100+ years, nowadays 70+ years is the general cutoff to call something an antique (definition hasn’t changed, just the practice). The accepted definition of Vintage is an item 20+ years old but not as old as an antique. What slays me aren’t just the NWT antiques, but also the “antique” beanie babies and “antique” vases from the 70s. I agree completely with your definition of Estate. It can make any pre-owned/second hand/used item sound so classy!

@shopsavoir Just to add my few 2 cents :) Though it seems paradoxical, an item can be both vintage & NWT - if it is indeed vintage era, & was never used & the tags are still attached, then it is at the same time both vintage & new (def of new being unused)...an anomaly ;)

@onceuponakind I agree, especially if the piece has been well preserved. If the tags are still attached, but the piece had tarnished, etc., over time, I'd feel "funny" about selling it as a "brand new condition".

@onceuponakind I Know many people sell vintage and antique items, as is, and leave it up to the buyer to remove tarnish/patina, or not. For whatever reason, I'm not able to do that...which costs me a lot of time! I'm almost obsessed with restoring a piece, back to original condition, whenever possible. I almost wish I wasn't!

@shopsavoir Absolutely! Though I'd likely polish it so it regained its original luster bc if it hasn't been used, then it is still technically "new" ;D...& I know, I've run across those who disparage any mend or repair or even cleaning, but I wonder if that is less about the "sanctity" of the piece & more about not wanting to take the time or even lack of knowledge as to how to do whatever needs done...I'm w you; I do try to restore as much as is possible w my limited know how ;) Thanks for the
