Vintage Heavy Orb Lens Cut Round Crystal Ball Rose Bowl 5.5"H Globe Vase. Good Vintage Condition with minor perfections due to age and use (tiny chip on rim and scratches as noted in photos). Please ask if additional photos needed. This is a beautiful example of a crystal "Rose Bowl" or Globe Vase featuring a distinctive "Lens Cut" or "Thumbprint" (also known as punty) pattern. Designed to use the thickness of the glass to create an optical "magnifying" effect, which makes light dance through the piece when it’s placed near a window or a lamp. The Shape is a spherical "rose bowl." Originally designed with a narrow opening to support the heavy heads of roses while keeping the stems short and submerged. The circular indentations are called Punties and are created by grinding the glass and then polishing it back to a high shine. This look is deeply rooted in Mid-Century Modern design but remains a staple in contemporary luxury glassware similar to Baccarat Héritage Pontil Vase. Approx: 5.5"H x 3.75"W at rim.
