Antique Indian scout brass bookends by PM Craftsmen Mfg. The Philadelphia Manufacturing company was known for a wide variety of very excellent bookends made around the 1940s. When you do a search of PMC sculptured bookends, you will quickly see they hired quality artisans. This Indian scout bookend is quite popular and is generally priced around $175. Some PMC works can go as high as $375 depending on size, date and other attributes. The base of each is 5” x 4”. Height is 6”. They have writing on the back. First is the company symbol, followed by unreadable letters ,then USA. They are made from a brass-plated base metal. While hefty, the construction is hollow. The American Indian scouts are depicted alert on a rock, a bow in one hand and an arrow in the other. The hair feather is a symbol of honor and is a connection between the brave scouts, the creator, and the eagle. Facial features are sharp and distinct. The pair is in excellent condition as seen in photos. The only noticeable defect is the missing brown cardboard/felt on the bottom of each end. This could easily be replaced but it certainly is not necessary.
