Vintage 50s Nancy Ann Storybook Doll 5.5" Roses Are Red #23 Bisque Painted w/Box

Own a piece of Nancy Ann history! This is a unique transitional bisque, painted eye, teen-body doll from 1950. Doll is 5.5-inch moveable leg doll with dark-brown hair & black painted eyes. Magenta felt hat accented with purple flower & light purple ribbon. Dress with short sleeves made of red taffeta. Skirt is bordered with two bands of purple ribbon & a floral accent. Snap closure. White linen slip (with a few pinprick-sized stains), matching pantaloons. Black painted shoes. Includes box. Roses Are Red, Violets Are Blue, part of Fairytale Series. Research: Pictured on p. 140 of Encyclopedia of Bisque Nancy Ann Storybook Dolls, Volume 2, by Elaine Pardee. Doll is one of few to utilize bisque and painted technique once the switch to plastic was made in the 1950s. Doll is in overall good condition, however NOTE: she is suffering from bisque decay and has white powder on her face and some glue residue from wig on face and chest.
