Vintage 1990s Eric Javits Velvet Cloche Pillbox Hat With Large Bow in Back Y2K Eric Javits opened his women's hat business in 1985. Within a few years he became known as the hat designer of choice for the international set, royalty and prominent society ladies as well as those celebrated in the worlds of music, television and film industries. For over the last century when photographers want to create a deep black background they have used black velvet. This is because velvet soaks in light and makes it very difficult to get any detail, and this hat is made of the softest, blackest velvet. I’ve done what I can to show the details, but just know that it is better in person than in the photos The items I sell are between 40-120 years old. They will have signs of wear. Please carefully examine photos. ************ All items sold are vintage finds sourced from estate sales and thrift stores in the Hollywood area of Southern California.
