A rare find from the Golden Age of California Glamour! Own a piece of West Coast fashion history with this stunning Tilt cocktail hat from the prestigious Millinery Salon at The Harris Company in San Bernardino, CA. Known as the region’s mid-century style center; label represents exceptional craftsmanship & high-end design. Highlights: Era: 1940s / Early 1950s Material: Exquisite black cellophane straw braid. This synthetic material provides a brilliant, high-gloss luster that mimics the look of hundreds of tiny jet beads. It is structurally firm, lightweight, & holds its dramatic shape beautifully. Design: Classic Tilt or Doll hat silhouette, designed to be worn at an asymmetric angle to showcase the hairstyle of the era. Embellishments: Features a bold, architectural black grosgrain bow; light stiffening for volume, accented by sweeping feather plumes for height & movement. Provenance: Features the original woven silk "The Harris Company Millinery Salon" label. Condition Note: Hat has been lovingly restored. While it faced challenges in the past, it has been reshaped and the beaded cellophane braid remains vibrant with a deep, midnight-black shine. The feathers/bow are intact & ready for display/wear. Style: OSFM (made to sit atop the head & secured with a hat pin or elastic; not included). Details: VTG 1940s-50s; VGUC; Veil remnants removed due to deterioration.
