mommicakes @southpawsfinds Oh for sure! First they issued an evac for zones A& B. Then C like 30 mins later. Then Mandatory for all Pinellas County, all evac within an hour or so. We already knew we were leaving. I watched that storm for a week before and it was extraordinary- unlike any I’ve experienced before. I’ve lived there 52 years ( I’m 56). So I’ve rode all the other one out but no way this one.

mommicakes @southpawsfinds I see they are now providing free bussing of people to get out of Pinellas County. They are turning the water and electricity off at noon today. By doing that, they hope to force people out because alot of folks feel they can ride this one out. Ones who have never experienced a hurricane first hand before. It’s coming straight at Tampa Bay and it’s going to be devastating. It’s the largest storm to ever form in the northern hemisphere in history as of last evening.

mommicakes @notimposhable thanks love! My husband and I and the kids (2 college students) daughter and son, are almost in destination Tallahassee in about 1.5 hours. My brother lives there. He’s the Administrator for the EPA State of FL and he’s also part time Professor at FSU. We’re really close, 11 months apart. He’s awesome 🫶🏻

mommicakes @inthistogether We just arrived in Tallahasse. Staying with my brother at his house. Brought our 2 goldendoodles and 2 kitties too. Pretty tight in the car but we did it. It’s going to be bad. Really bad. It’s the closest and worst I’ve seen, living in the Bay area 52 years. This storm is the biggest in history and of the whole northern hemisphere. 😢

mommicakes @inthistogether We boarded the house up pretty good and it’s concrete block so it is pretty strong, but we lost at least a dozen shingles off the roof from Helene… so I’m kinda concerned about the roof…

inthistogether @mommicakes That's so stressful!!! Good for you for making those hard decisions and leaving early enough to get to safety and I truly hope your house is spared! It sounds like it has a strong foundation and materials (I lived in Taiwan for a year and their houses also had a lot of concrete incorporated which seemed to help in both monsoon season and for the occasional earthquakes) so there's a lot of hope!!
